How to Own a Gun in Massachusetts

Becoming a legal gun owner in Massachusetts is not easy. The firearms laws are complex, and the application and permitting process can be quite confusing.

We can help. Our friendly and knowledgeable instructors will guide you every step of the way.

In addition to receiving your official Massachusetts Basic Firearms Safety Certificate, you will have the opportunity to handle many types of handguns, rifles, and shotguns, and learn how to apply for a Massachusetts Firearms License.

Classes are held on Sundays from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

The cost for the class is $90 per attendee.

Each attendee will receive:

  • The Basic Firearms Safety Certificate required by M.G.L. Chapter 140 ยง 131P.   This certificate will allow you to apply for a Massachusetts Firearms Identification Card (FID) or License To Carry (LTC).
  • A copy of the excellent NRA Home Firearm Safety Handbook
  • The Massachusetts Gun Law Reference booklet published by the Gun Owners' Action League (GOAL.org)
  • A sample Massachusetts Firearms License application
  • An NRA Home Firearms Safety certificate of completion
