MA Firearms Permit Course Schedule

Receive the training certificate that will enable you to apply for a MA License To Carry (LTC) or Firearms Identification Card (FID). This class is open to both MA residents, and those from out-of-state that wish to apply for a non-resident firearms permit.

Who Should take this class?

This classroom-only course is designed for anyone wishing to obtain a firearms permit in Massachusetts. This course is perfect for novices looking for an introduction to the safe operation of various types of firearms.

What can you expect to learn?

Participants will learn how to properly handle, store, and clean a firearm, how ammunition works, how to identify different types of firearms and actions, and how to safely unload a firearm. In addition, students will learn about the process of obtaining a firearms permit in Massachusetts, as well as some of the specifics of Massachusetts firearms laws.

Practical Exercises

  • Demonstrate how to load and unload the firearms listed above
  • Identify different types of rifle, shotgun, and handgun ammunition
  • Explain the firing sequence of a metallic cartridge and shotshell
  • Demonstrate proper disassembly and cleaning of firearms
