How to Get a C&R FFL (Video Class)

What is a C&R license?

A C&R FFL is short for Curio & Relics Federal Firearms License - also known as a Type 03 FFL. This is an inexpensive ($10/year) firearms license intended for collectors. It is a federal firearms license issued by the ATF. Even if you don't see yourself as a firearms collector, there are a number of good reasons to get one.

Here's why every shooter should get a C&R:

  1. With a C&R, you can get qualifying firearms shipped directly to you - there's no need to have them transferred through a dealer.
  2. You'll save money. In addition to avoiding dealer transfer fees, some online retailers offer discounts to C&R holders.
  3. In Massachusetts, a C&R establishes your status as a "bona fide" collector, which qualifies you to apply for a machine gun permit.
  4. MA dealers can transfer qualifying handguns to C&R holders - even if they're not on the Approved Firearms Roster.

Jim is a Massachusetts State Police and NRA-certified instructor with over 25 years of training experience, former president of the Gun Owners' Action League (GOAL), and Vice President of the Shirley Rod and Gun Club. Jim is also a federally licensed firearms manufacturer, and a MA state licensed dealer and gunsmith. In other words, Jim is a gun nut.
